Is their any truth to the rumor that ECU has been asked to leave conference C-USA due to their lack of competitiveness. I guess much like Temple was asked to leave the B/East.

ECU has been an asset to CUSA and will continue to be. To compare ECU to Temple is like apples to oranges. ECU has been down for just a couple of years and have made a commitment to change that downward spiral. ECU will be competitive in the near future.

I agree with you. I found this hard to believe as well, but they have been down in football, and never very good in b/ball and that is spors bar jargon here in carolina.. Then again, ECU gets no respect here at all.

I think you are right. Their has to be more to this, or its just predjudiced bar room talk. Perhaps, which I would really find hard to understand or believe, the B/E has extended a football only invitation. If that is what has happened then it lends credence to the original post that ECU has been asked to leave C-USA..

evidently you guessed right. This was bar room talk.
The basis for by placing possible credence in the talk, was that I was told this by an ECU alumnus who is just as in to ECU as I am MU. He does believe that WVU is working to help ECU get into the BE. GO HERD FOREVER! CAROLINAHERDFAN

Well, I don't attest to be any more connected than either of you but I think its safe to say that he's off on his last prediction as well.
WVU is not trying to help anyone get into the BE. Sometimes where there is smoke there is fire but whomever goes to the BE (even for FB only) would still have to have the blessing of the non FB schools. Outside of UMass, Army and Navy, I don't see any contenders. Even if the BE did want ECU, where would their other sports go? I'm sure the CAA wouldn't mind them come crawing back. Heck, didn't they snub them from the tournament on their way out? Maybe Temple would be a proponent of allowing them to land in the A10. I'm sure they owe the BE a favor for kicking them out on the street. Just like Marshall in 2001, no school will allow their other sports to hang for the sake of football. That goes for all of CUSA. |

I think your post makes good sense, and as far as I am concerned will put this topic to bed once and for all. I'll just strike this one up to scotch talk that should have been DOA.

That is too hard to believe, ECU has been too great of an asset to CUSA. Prior to Louisville doing anything with football ECU held the league together, sure the ville could outplay ECU in hoops but not football until recently. ECU has a great baseball program as well which we are about to find out..this has to be a bad rumor and nothing more.
